Vehicle Wraps – With the advancements in sign materials and options, vehicle wraps have become a very popular way to promote a business. Using your car or truck to advertise your business or organization markets your brand and message every day, all day, no matter where you are.
Vehicle wrapping is when you fully or partially cover your vehicle in a special vinyl film. It’s a quick way to change the look of your car without having to pay for a full paint job. The decals can also be removed later with no impact on the existing paint job, assuming the wrap was maintained correctly.
With vinyl wraps, you can use color, designs, even textures, to put your logo and other business graphics on a vehicle. There are a huge range of options to choose from, allowing you to put your own unique stamp on your vehicle. Wraps are very eye-catching and help to build a brand.
Designs include glossy colors and matte finishes, gradient colors, and chrome and metallic colors. The only limits are your imagination — and your budget.
Basically, you can’t make an old beat up jalopy look brand new with a vehicle wrap. That’s not their purpose. Created to add special details and graphics to vehicles, wraps require a good, solid surface for proper application and longevity.
If your vehicle has any bad scratches, paint issues, or door dings, they will be quite noticeable on the newly wrapped surface. If the paint has started to flake or oxidize, the wrap material will not adhere to it well. We advise customers to repair any scratches or dents before wrapping their vehicle.
Cost for wraps really depends on many factors. Details such as how much of the vehicle is being wrapped (partial versus full), what vinyl wrap materials are being used, and the complexity of the design all impact materials and labor costs.
It’s best to meet with a professional, experienced installer who can go over your design and wrap options with you. They may also have some great ideas to help you get what you want and stay within your budget.
The shop you work with will give your vehicle a thorough washing and cleaning with preparation products that will remove any contaminants and oils from the surface of the paint. After, they will remove certain vehicle components (bumpers, cover plates, etc.) so they can access the edges of the body panels. Alternatively, the shop can cut the vinyl around some car features if necessary.
Once the vehicle is fully prepped, the vinyl coverings are applied. Special tools are used to smooth the vinyl and remove any air pockets. Some more complex wrap designs require additional layers to achieve the desired look. Getting a smooth, perfect adhesion is trickly and that is why vehicle wraps are best left up to the pros.
The entire process usually takes a few days to complete. Very simple designs can be completed in a day. Overall, in just a couple of days, you can have a completely made over vehicle that will stand out and look very sharp going down the road!
A properly maintained vehicle wrap usually lasts five to seven years. The more a vehicle is exposed to harsh elements, the less time it will hold up. Avoid parking your wrapped vehicle on the street which will expose it to road salts and more damages.
Some shops offer a special coating for finished wraps, for an added fee, to give it greater UV resistance and prevent minor scratches.
Keep your vehicle clean, and wash it by hand using a microfiber towel to keep your wrap looking its best the longest.
