Keep your brand image sparkling with clean outdoor signage!

As we look forward to warmer weather with the arrival of spring, be sure to include your outdoor business signs in your spring cleaning plans! A tidy, clean storefront or business office will better attract customers. The best first impression with potential customers starts with clean outdoor signs.

Importance of Keeping Your Business Signage Clean

Outside dirt and grime build up on sign surfaces. This not only detracts from their appearance but will degrade sign materials over time. You can keep your signs looking new with regular cleaning. Springtime is perfect since winter usually deposits more filth on sign surfaces.

Cleaning supplies can depend on sign materials, but using a soft cloth and a mild detergent is safe and effective in wiping down signs. For more challenging areas or ones that are hard to reach, using a hose to gently spray water can clean up a sign’s appearance.

Cleaning Window Decals

Windows are a great surface to use to advertise your business and attract attention to your business. They can publicize your brand logo and graphics, as well as convey important information like business hours and contact information. For them to work effectively, it’s crucial to keep them in good condition and easily readable.

The best method for cleaning window decals is a simple gentle hand wash using a soapy mixture. Dish soap or a gentle cleanser will work fine. We don’t recommend using a squeegee or power washer. These methods can be too aggressive, and cause the decals to peel. Also avoid harsh chemicals which can also potentially damage the decals. You can wipe away water and drops with a soft chamois cloth.

Cleaning Aluminum Signage

Durable aluminum signage is popular in Maine because it’s very durable. This material still requires maintenance. Regular cleaning is essential to ensure your signs remain bright, shiny, and eye-catching!

To clean aluminum signs, use a solution of soapy water and a soft cotton cloth or sponge. Like other signage, avoid using harsh cleansers because their chemicals can degrade the material and damage a sign.

Remove Obstructions

During the winter, things like tree limbs and other debris may have fallen on or near you’re your business signage, blocking the view. Trees and shrubs around your business may have become overgrown, making it difficult to see your sign. It’s important that your signage is clearly visible from both up close, as well as down the street. This spring, tidy up around your signs, ensuring they are easily visible.

Vinyl or Fabric Awnings & Banner Signs

If you have temporary vinyl banners or fabric awnings at your business, include them in your cleaning routine as well. Again, a mixture of a mild cleanser like dish soap and warm water, applied with a soft cloth or sponge should work. For stubborn stains, you can add a little bit of bleach in, but be sure to do a test area to make sure it doesn’t damage the fabric color. Never use bleach over lettering.

Vehicle Wraps & Lettering

Vehicle wraps and lettering are a very affordable way to advertise your business 24/7 wherever you go. It’s like turning your work vehicle into a moving billboard for your business!

Keeping your vehicle wraps clean will keep them lasting longer and looking their best. Use a soft sponge or non-abrasive cloth and hand wash vehicle wraps and decals with car wash solution. Rinse off soapy water with a clean water rinse, and dry using a chamois or microfiber cloth. Always wipe gently!

Can Vehicle Wraps Go through an Automated Car Wash?

It’s generally recommended for safest results, that you hand wash your wrapped vehicle for the best longevity of wrap material. Wrapped vehicles can go through a touchless carwash. Using a brush-style carwash may cause damage to the vehicle graphics.

Can Vehicle Graphics be Waxed?

The great thing about vehicle wraps is that they offer the same benefits as wax! Vinyl wraps help protect the paint of your vehicle. Their glossy finish adds that shine you’re looking for as well. Applying wax with any abrasive component or certain chemicals can break down the laminate and damage your wrap or lettering, so it’s best to avoid applying wax over or near wraps and lettering.
